FAQs

Our model is unique and hard to fit into existing boxes! We've collected some of the frequently asked questions to help as you navigate the ways RCK can best serve you.

Do you have salads/coffee/desserts/etc.?

We don't, we specialize in frozen main entrées. Part of what makes this great is that there's no food waste aside from what goes into the compost as part of our recipe prepping! There are some lovely businesses located within walking distance that sell beverages, sweet treats, etc. to round out your meal.

Can we rent your space?

Absolutely! Our event space has been used for birthday parties, retirement parties, baby showers, pumpkin carving, game nights, Seders, rehearsal dinners, Friendsgivings, and more! The event space is welcoming, cozy, and can easily be transformed to suit your needs. Our commercial kitchen can be added to your rental if kitchen access is desired. It is also available for rent by food businesses who need a licensed kitchen for their food production! For more information, check out our rentals page.

What if I can't pick up my order before you close?

No problem. Simply let us know that you'll be picking up your order after-hours and we'll leave it in a cooler on the front porch for you. Easy peasy!

Do you have anything gluten-free?

We have LOTS of meals made without gluten! By clicking on any meal on the In Our Freezers page, you'll see a description that includes dietary considerations, ingredients, and common allergens. Please note that we're not a gluten free-certified facility and while we are mindful about cross-contamination and do our best to avoid it, we can't absolutely guarantee zero gluten in our meals.

Can I eat this tonight?

Yep! Some of our meals are actually made to heat from frozen, including our Roasted Vegetable Enchiladas, quiches, burritos, and hand pies. For everything else, there are work-arounds that can be found in your meal's description online. Generally speaking, casseroles will need to be baked 50°F lower and for twice as long as the instructions on the label indicate. For soups & stews in disposable containers, run them under hot water until the food comes out and heat it on low, stirring frequently. Do NOT attempt to use this method for soups in glass containers!

Where do you source your meats?

Sourcing local ingredients is at the core of our ethos. The vast majority of the time, our beef comes from Farr Farms, our chicken from Robie Farm, our turkey from Stonewood Farm, and our pork from Black River Meats, Vermont Salumi, and McKenzie Country Classics. For more information on our ingredient sourcing, take a look at the comprehensive list of our farmers & producers.

Do you do gift cards?

We sure do! Gift cards are a great way to care for someone when you don't know what they want to eat. You can order a digital gift card online or come into the store to purchase a physical gift card.

How do I find out about upcoming cooking classes?

There are many ways to stay up to date on cooking classes. We post classes on our website first, then on Facebook and Instagram. We also include class updates in our bi-weekly newsletter and you can find them on the Seven Days Tickets site.

Do you have a menu?

Not exactly. By looking at our In Our Freezers page, you'll see what we have in stock at any given moment. Since inventory changes regularly, it doesn't make sense for us to create a menu that doesn't change automatically along with our production. We always have the same categories of meals available (casseroles, soups & stews, quiches, and handheld meals) but the specific meals therein can change. We typically make one big batch of one recipe each day, put a few meals from that batch into our fridge, and then freeze the rest for purchase starting the next day.

The sign says "Sold Out" but I see things behind there. What gives?

That "sold out" sign just refers to one variation of the meal you're looking at and it means that either a particular packaging version is sold out (e.g. paper vs glass for soups) or a particular size is sold out (e.g. 9x9 vs loaf pans for casseroles). Don't let that sign stop you from grabbing the meal(s) you want!

How spicy are your (chilis, enchiladas, etc.)?

We don't make anything really spicy-- after all, you can always add, you can't subtract! Several of our recipes do include ingredients like chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, roasted poblano peppers, or red chili pepper flakes, but rest assured we use them with a gentle touch. Since spiciness is such a subjective experience (my "super spicy" could be your "where's the heat?"), we trust you to decide what you want to try!

Do you deliver?

Every week! We deliver on Thursdays within a specific geographic area (check your zip code during checkout) and orders just need to be in by midnight on Wednesday. There's a minimum order amount of $150 and delivery is free for orders $200+.

Why can't I get Eggplant Parmesan in January?

We're all about being part of a local food network, and when you support local farmers who grow crops seasonally, it means a natural shift in what meals are available. Eggplants simply aren't grown in Vermont in January! You'll see our menu stacked with meals featuring tomatoes, eggplant, and greens in the summer/fall and potatoes, carrots, and butternut squash in the winter/spring. That said, we try to process a lot of local produce during peak harvest so that we can extend the season as long as possible so you might occasionally see Eggplant Parmesan later than expected.
